A Victorian semi-detached house located on one of the best streets in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, southwest of Manchester. The property had previously been converted to a House of Multiple Occupation (HMO) and was in desperate need of repair.

NORTHERN was appointed to convert the house back to a family home and upgrade the existing accommodation to be suitable for contemporary living.

The existing, narrow kitchen and utility space on the ground floor have been replaced with a light-filled kitchen and family area, connected to the garden. The ground floor has been expanded sideways to fill the width of the dwelling, with reconfiguration of the existing internal layout to incorporate a new utility and WC. The design maintained a formal living room at the front of the house with reinstated, period features.

Further to the extension and ground floor remodel, the basement has been converted to provide a separate office space with a dedicated, external entrance. The rest of the house has been upgraded and reconfigured to provide five bedrooms, with bathrooms on each level of the home.
